Cybercrime Libel: Deal or No Deal?

Last October 3, President Noynoy Aquino has just signed the one of the most trending and most controversial law today-- The RA10175 or The Cybercrime Law. Before this feat half of the world was shocked with this event especially the netizen wooed this code. In the spotlight there is Senator TG Guingona, who passed a petition against this decree, to prevent the execution. Subsequently, The Anonymous Philippines hacked three of the Government sites to express their apposition against the law followed by numerous groups showing their "dislike" with the bill.

The reason? It is one of the many provisions which is the cyber libel which they interpret as: when you "like" or "re-tweeted", "shared", "comment"  to a libelous post, or you posted something that could destroy someone's reputation, you will be charged libel as well. But later Senator Angara cleared the issue and told that the bill is not that cruel.

It is true that the RA10175 is not that cruel. They cried that it is not constitutional and humanitarian to implement this law because it hinders our freedom to express our thoughts, which is a wrong notion. We still have our freedom in our life, and in package with the free will. But still in everything we do there is responsibility. The order is there to set our limits, for us to be a cautious and censurable citizen. For us not to do what ever we wanted to do. Cyber libel is just similar to an ordinary and personal libel. And also to the libel that is charged to the media men  to the celebrities. They use media to say false to others, they are accused. Same to us who use social media, In just a few clicks we can destroy some reputation. We are also liable in what we are speaking out. So we don't have to go everywhere and seek loopholes of the decree. Let's just support the government because they just think of what's better for us and the image of the country. We hope that the law will wear a steel arm and will not be unfair and corrupt. So that we will not only be hailed as one of the most number of internet users but one of the most responsible netizens someday. Good luck to President Noy and keep up the good job!
